When the Thunder God Thor apparently went insane whom did the Silver Surfer contact in order to help stop the God's rampage? He was successful where the Surfer, The Infinity Watch, Doctor Strange, and other Asgardian Gods were not.

It was Thanos.

This conflict led the assembled group to Asgard, where they came into contact with Odin. Thanos battled Odin until the God learned the truth, he revived Thor, and allowed Thanos and the heroes to leave Asgard with his and Thor's gratitude.
